What is a StoryWalk?

A StoryWalk® is a program where pages from a children’s book are displayed sequentially along a walking path. Our hope is that the StoryWalk will inspire families to exercise, read, and learn together for many years to come.

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library in Montpelier Vermont. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.

Where is the StoryWalk?

The StoryWalk® is located at Jaycee Park on Silver Lake Rd (between Route 14 and Three Oaks Road). It starts on the south side of the park, near the pavilion, and ends just before the footbridge.

When was the StoryWalk installed?

The StoryWalk® was established in 2024 to promote early literacy, improve mental health outcomes throughout our community, and encourage community members to explore our local parks. A huge thank you to Cary Park District and Cary School District 26 for their collaboration on this project, which was made possible through a grant in partnership with D26.

How often will the stories change?

Stories will change every other month (even in the winter), so be sure to visit often!
